I’m fat positive because I’m a feminist, and I refuse to acknowledge in the magical thinking that if you’re small enough, quiet enough, compliant enough and saccharine enough, you will somehow be enough.

Let’s be shameless. Be greedy. Pursue pleasure. Avoid pain. Wear and touch and eat and drink what we feel like. Tolerate other women’s choices. Seek out the sex we want and fight fiercely against the sex we do not want. Choose our own causes. And once we break through and change the rules so our sense of our own beauty cannot be shaken, sing that beauty and dress it up and flaunt it and revel in it: In a sensual politics, female is beautiful.

Would you look at that? I found time to write a blog for About-Face, but somehow I can’t write all these papers for my classes. Hm…
Anyway, read all about Glamour magazine’s new poll which found that thin women are stereotyped as mean, controlling, and ambitious (to name a few), while heavy women are stereotyped as lazy, undisciplined, and giving (to name a few).
Better yet, comment on it (on the actual website) so I feel like people are actually reading it. :D Thanks!

I Think That She Knows | Justin Timberlake

Honestly, the best part of the song. Don’t tell me you’ve listened to Lovestoned a bajillion times and didn’t end up skipping to the last 3 minutes or so to listen to this part.

I want to be her but at the same time I want her to be my best friend.

Sleep late, have fun, get wild, drink whiskey and drive fast on empty streets with nothing in mind except falling in love and not getting arrested.

You are the most dangerous kind of female the world can ever know. You carry the seeds for your own destruction and the destruction of everyone who loves you. And a great many will love you for your beautiful face, for your seductive body; but you will fail them all because you will believe they all fail you first. You are an idealist of the worst kind - the romantic idealist. Born to destroy and self destruct.

‘The Golden Girls’ And Gay Marriage: Classic Sitcom Showed Support

Seriously this show was a piece of flaw free television. And it was ballsy as hell talking about poverty, AIDS, addiction, nuclear arms, age discrimination, being proud of sexuality. They talked about it all.

Calling a black woman an ebony anything or a sexy chocolate anything is skeevy. I’ve dated people of other races before and they’ve all been respectful enough to not fetishize my race but they also didn’t fall into that colorblind bullshit. I don’t understand how people can really think that’s a compliment. Another pet peeve is when people say “i’m not usually into black chicks but your hot” or “you’re super cute for a bigger girl.” That’s not a compliment! That’s saying well the norm is this eurocentric bullshit but you’re alright too.
